The Holidays are Coming!!!

Monday, November 14th, 2011

With the holiday season fast approaching, I thought I should tell you about this must have book.  It makes the perfect stocking stuffer, or for under the tree.  Maybe you know of someone who is pregnant?  They would love to receive this informative book, with practical tips for Mum and Dad on how to prepare for their labor and birth.  The book is of course about Doulas and explains in detail the ‘why to hire’, ‘how to hire’, a Doulas’s qualification and some of the multitude of techniques she will offer.   Did you know there are some male Doulas, as there are some male Midwives, that is so awesome!  In this book you get a chance to read about six personal and positive birth stories.  Yes, there are lots of women having great Natural Births!

I came up with the idea of this book after hearing so many mums tell me that they needed encouragement, not the negative and disturbing birth stories that are so prevalent.   Through the generosity of some of my clients, I have retold their birth stories.  These women, as every other woman I help through the birthing process, prove to me that women are strong and determined.   We contort our bodies and breathe through the most unbelievable marathon each time we birth our babies, and the outcome is so incredibly worth our efforts.

Over the last ten years I have been so blessed to have amazing, warm and generous clients that have invited me to be their Doula.  I am honored to have been able to help them on their personal and magical birthing moments.  It makes it easy for me to love my passion of birth.

“Give this book as a shower gift.  It shows you how doulas can help women create an easier and happier birth experience.  Open this book and a wealth of information will spill out!”

Paulina (Polly) Perez, author of Special Women, Doula Programs and The Nurturing Touch at Birth

“I get shivers of joy imagining other moms having this support in their birthing experiences, to have a Doula journey with them – an experienced guide to travel the unknown terrain … an amazing

support for moms and their partners, offering them strength, wisdom and clarity of potential choices to support the child into the world all delivered in the caring and loving energy of the author.”

Canela Michelle Meyers, author of Right Here, Right Now Meditation

“A wonderfully thorough and comprehensive journey through everything that Doulas provide for the pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. This book will help families

prepare for their birth and make informed choices, including which doula  best suit their needs.”

Amanda Reid, RM & RN

“This book demonstrates to us how we can choose to make our child’s entrance into the world a celebration of the miraculous process that it is, instead of the clinical experience modern medicine has sometimes made it into.  The birth stories that Kim has interspersed throughout the book really demonstrate how a birth coach empowers parents by providing them with education, tools, and loving care during pregnancy, labour and delivery.”

Denise Cuningham, bestselling author of Whispers of Hope

“Rich in thoughtful observations, personal insights and ‘birth stories’ this book is a delightful introduction to birthing in its most wonderful and humane form.”

Gerry Fewster, Ph.D. author of Don’t Let Your Kids Be Normal

Well some food for thought, I hope you can encourage others and yourself to buy this book.

Breathe and Believe,

Kim Turton

“All you need is within you.

Great teachers have said that from the beginning.

Find your heart, and you will find your way.”

wishing primip’s (first time mums) had it easier

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

I wish all first time mama’s didn’t have to go through the long and arduous first time! It would be nice to see our bodies work towards birth easier and quicker, like multips.  They birth easier and quicker.  Having said that it is essential that there is professional help to guide mum not only for a first timer but all birth.   Please remember that any birth deserves a Doula.  There are lots of us waiting for you to call and ask for help.  It doesn’t have to be that hard.

I enjoyed a multip and primip this past weekend, both beautiful girls born – several hours apart.

Wishing you all a Doula!  Happy birthing!
